Schoolboy to the rescue

Schoolboy to the rescue

SINGAPORE - At about 7pm on July 25, my seven-year-old grandson, who has moderately severe autism, slipped out of our house without our knowledge. For the next few hours, we searched frantically for him.

Finally, at about 10.35pm, we received a call from the police saying he had been found in Mandarin Gardens, a condominium about 2km away from my house.

Evans Aruldoss of Ngee Ann Secondary School had seen my grandson in the condo's adult swimming pool, holding onto the edge. He sensed that something was amiss and scooped my grandson out of the water.

No amount of thanks will be enough to express our gratitude for Evans' quick thinking, which averted a potential tragedy.

We also thank our friends, neighbours, relatives and the police for their help.
