One Direction star Zayn Malik will skip the British-Irish pop phenomenon's concert in Jakarta on March 25 because of stress.
"Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate," tweeted One Direction management.
Rumour has it that Zayn is depressed by media reports alleging that he was cheating on his fiancee, Little Mix popstar Perrie Edwards. The rumour broke following the circulation of photos showing Zayn holding hands with another woman.
Malik spoke out against speculation about their relationship by declaring his love for his fiancee. "I'm 22 years old. I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there's a lot of jealous f**ks in this world. I'm sorry for what it looks like," he tweeted.
The Jakarta concert's media relations head, Helmi Sugara, said Jakarta's show would go on with four remaining One Direction lads: Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson. "Let us all send our well-wishes to Zayn and hope he recovers soon," Helmi said in a statement late Friday.
The show, he said, must go on. "Stay united and let's show the boys that we, the Indonesian Directioners, are the most supportive fans in the world, so that they will come back to Jakarta for their future tours with Zayn as well."
