SINGAPORE - It was only 9am but a handful of fans were already taking their spot at the arrival hall of Changi Airport Terminal 1 on Monday.

They waited impatiently and engaged in excited chatter with one another, some hugging handmade gifts tightly to their bodies.

By noon, the crowd had swelled to nearly 300 and security was tight as the anticipation intensified.

The fans actually belonged to two camps - British-Irish boy band The Wanted and Taiwanese-American singer Wang Lee Hom.

The international acts, who headlined countdown party Celebrate TV50 at The Float @ Marina Bay last night, were scheduled to arrive at midday, some 20 minutes after each other.

When The Wanted, followed by Wang, finally appeared, the fans went into a tizzy - for different reasons.

Who: The Wanted, comprising Siva Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes, Jay McGuiness, Max George and Tom Parker - all aged between 20 and 25. This is their fourth time in Singapore.

They were last here in 2012 when they performed their firstever full-length concert at the Max pavilion.

Time of arrival: Noon

Time of exit: 12.15pm

Number of fans: 200

What went down: One fan sacrificed sleep to design personalised t-shirts for her beloved boys.

Another travelled in the wee hours from johor Baru just for a glimpse of her favourite boy band.

Both agreed it was well worth the trouble for the short 15 minutes they got to see their idols "live".
