Anita Mui items to be auctioned

Hong Kong - The late Anita Mui's many award trophies, childhood photographs and a football signed by David Beckham are among her personal belongings up for grabs in an auction tomorrow.

The sale by Mui's estate consists of 1,000 items in 405 lots from the singer's Hong Kong apartment at Shouson Hill Road, which was sold last month for HK$147 million (S$24 million), Apple Daily Hong Kong reported.

The flat was on Wednesday open for the first time in 10 years since Mui's death, for fans to view the items estimated to fetch between HK$500 and HK$1,500.

About 30 fans were seen that afternoon looking at collectibles such as a Buddhist scripture inked by Mui's friend Andy Lau, estimated at HK$500, framed photos of Japanese singer and Mui's old flame Kohji Makaino (HK$500) and the football left by Mui, a Beckham fan (HK$500).

They also include the Best Actress and other trophies she won at ceremonies such as the Hong Kong Film Awards and Golden Horse Awards, her huge canopy bed, Buddha statues, her photo collection and sunglasses.

Mui's estate administrators have been selling her assets to pay for her mother's living expenses and other costs. After selling her overseas properties, it auctioned her jewellery for HK$6.8 million in 2011. Mui died at the age of 40 in 2003 from cervical cancer.
