Are you the one? JJ Lin has 'secret crush'

Were you one of those who congratulated local singer JJ Lin following his big Golden Melody Award win last Saturday? If you did, then you might be the "secret crush" he has been talking about.

After bagging the coveted Best Mandarin Male Singer title at the prestigious Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan, Lin announced that he now wants to focus on his love life.

The 33-year-old revealed that he has someone in mind and that she had sent a message to congratulate him on the win. Speaking over the phone from Taiwan yesterday, Lin said: "I am going to give myself some space and time to observe her first. I want to face this with a very relaxed feeling and not have any stress."

He added: "You must give me some time to woo her or for us to progress. If I have any good news, I will let you know." The home-grown talent has previously been linked to Taiwanese model Lilian Chen, host Weng Tzy Mann, and singer Linda Liao, among other starlets, leading some to label him a "Casanova".

But Lin said that he hopes to not date anyone from showbiz.

"The entertainment scene is very complicated. It's difficult to even make friends, let alone date," he said. "The pressure is much less if it's someone outside showbiz." Lin said that he prefers someone who is "independent, bubbly, lively, generous and straightforward".

"I need a girl who can take care of herself. I have a hectic schedule and my job sees me interacting closely with my fans. The girl has to be able to accept all these with an open heart," he explained.

Lin's good friend Mandopop King Jay Chou has recently said that he will marry his girlfriend, 21-year-old model Hannah Quinlivan, before his 36th birthday in January.

NO RUSH

Even though Lin has not given himself a deadline on when he should get married, he revealed that the ideal timing would be before he is 40. He said: "If I am in my forties and still single, I think I'll feel very lonely."

Although elated about his big win, Lin said he has not had any time to celebrate. He is nursing a swollen right ankle following a bad fall after accepting his award.

The singer, who has been in the industry for a decade, had been nominated for the same award three times, but never won. "I wanted to do something crazy to celebrate, but so far, I've been using ice compress on my leg so that it will recover soon," he said. "It's still red and badly bruised now, but at least I can walk."

He added: "When I recover, I might want to go to a public area, celebrate it with my fans and surprise them. I am still thinking about it."
