Don't be fooled by her sweetiepie demeanour, perennial smiles and girl-next-door image on the small screen.
As we found out from the horse's mouth, US pop sensation and actress Ariana Grande's real life personality couldn't be more different from the iconic character she plays on TV.
The popular 20-year-old Nickelodeon star reprises the role of bubbly Cat Valentine in new comedy Sam & Cat, a spin-off of her previous hit teen sitcom Victorious.
"Cat doesn't see the bad in anybody, she's cheerful all the time. When she makes friends with others, it's like a fulltime job," said Grande, speaking from London in an exclusive interview with M via Google+ Hangout video chat last week.
"As for me, I'm a lot more chill and shy. In high school, I was definitely not the cool girl."
With a playful grin on her face, she added: "In fact, I was always getting into trouble for the wrong reasons - until I became best friends with the (school) dean. That changed everything."
Sam & Cat follows the misadventures of Valentine and her feisty roommate Sam Puckett ( Jennette McCurdy) after they start a babysitting service. It premiered on MTV SEA (StarHub Ch 533/ SingTel mio TV Ch 350) last Friday.
New episodes are shown every Monday to Thursday at 4.30pm.
