The Big Bang Theory left no doubt that it is truly the biggest hit on American network television, opening its new season on Thursday night with the best premiere in its seven-year history.

It was seen by 19.5 million people, which meant good news for the new CBS comedy that followed, The Crazy Ones, starring Robin Williams. It debuted before 15.6 million people, the best ratings for a new show this season.

In direct competition, The Michael J. Fox Show, the much-anticipated NBC sitcom, was seen by 7.2 million people.
