He's a serial singing competition champion, having walked away a winner in many contests like Stomp's MMsing Talent Contest 2012 and Nanyang Technological University's Impresario 2011.
Local talent Sufie Rashid is also no stranger to local reality TV singing shows.
He managed to clinch Top 40 spots in Channel 5 productions The Final 1 and Singapore Idol 3, which saw Farisha Ishak and Sezairi Sezali respectively winning the titles.
Even without big label backing, Sufie has been making waves on the music scene here.
22-year-old now has even more to be proud of.
Sufie is an award nominee at this year's Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM), a music awards show which recognises regional talent in the Malay music industry.
He is in the running for the Social Media Nova award, a category which highlights budding artists with a popular YouTube cover video of a Malay/Indonesian song with at least 10,000 views.
APM, which is into its 12th year, will be held at Suntec Singapore on Oct 18 at 8.30pm with a live simulcast on Suria.
A total of 18 awards will be presented and other local nominees include Aliff Aziz, Hady Mirza, Seyra, Sleeq and Sezairi Sezali.
"This nomination was really unexpected. I had submitted my name just for the fun of it. When I came to know that last year's winner had sung the same song (Sudah Cukup Sudah by Indonesian act Nirwana Band), I didn't think I had the chance," Sufie told LOUD at the APM media conference last week.
He has also covered popular English-language hits like When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars and Rolling In The Deep by Adele.
