Los Angeles - Radio icon Casey Kasem has finally been buried in Norway, six months after his death.

The American Top 40 legend was buried on Dec 16 at Vestre Gravlund, a cemetery in Oslo, Norway, CNN quoted a manager of cemetery administration there as saying on Tuesday.

Website TMZ said Kasem's adult children from his first marriage learnt about it only on Monday.

They have been battling the DJ's second wife Jean Kasem in court since the months before he died in June at age 82.

Kasem's daughter Kerri Kasem has also been fighting to have the body sent back to Los Angeles for an autopsy.

The interment came two weeks after an elder abuse case, spearheaded by her, was submitted to the Los Angeles district attorney, reports said.

She had filed a police complaint alleging that her father had suffered a fatal infection when his wife moved him from a care facility in California to Washington state.

On Facebook on Monday, she hit out against her stepmother, saying that she had buried Kasem in Norway against his wishes.

She said letters from Kasem's friends and family stated that the DJ wanted to be buried in the United States where he was born and raised.

She added: "How many more witnesses do you need...West Los Angeles Police Department where are you?!"

TMZ said the body's decay and burial overseas would make it impossible for Los Angeles authorities to determine a precise cause of death.

In August, Jean had claimed "her Norwegian heritage" for the burial.

The Daily Mail said in June that a private investigator hired by Kerri has alleged that Jean was having a years-long affair at the time of her husband's death.
