The songs on this album by new Scottish synthpop band Chvrches takes form around the teenybopper pop voice of lead singer Lauren Mayberry.
But before you're put off, there's some amazing magic in her vocals as they alternate between whimsical and edgy.
It makes you take a step back in apprehension - or even fear - yet also makes you sit up and listen. Mayberry may be petite, but never underestimate the power in that voice.
Coalescing that with the dreamy electronic sounds put together by her band members, Chvrches have made an album that isn't quite your average synthpop material.
Glowing tracks in this record include opener The Mother We Share, We Sink as well as Science/Visions.
It's refreshing that a band this new can offer an album as impressive as this.
