Hong Kong - A representative for Cecilia Cheung says she has never received any alimony from her former husband Nicholas Tse, refuting a report that the actors have re-negotiated alimony payments to her benefit.
Cheung, who has migrated to Canada with their children, was reported to have had her monthly expenses raised to a seven-digit sum, after she took on the debts of her father, who was said to have suffered investment losses.
Last Saturday, her manager said she could "no longer tolerate" such stories, reported Oriental Daily News. "Will there be no end of these reports?" the manager said, noting that Cheung, 33, was first said to have received HK$20 million (S$3.2 million) from Tse, 33, before the figure became more "outrageous".
"Since the divorce, Cecilia has never received any alimony," the manager said. Although Tse is responsible for the living expenses of sons Lucas, six, and Quintus, three, Cheung has always taken care of her family herself, the manager added.
Asked if she had given up alimony on her own initiative, her manager said: "It's needless to say and it isn't a priority. What's most critical is that we have really never taken a dollar."
Tse also issued a statement through his lawyer, saying the report was untrue.
