Chow Yun-Fat and wife had child who died at birth: Chinese media

Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported that Hong Kong superstar Chow Yun-Fat and his Singaporean wife Jasmine Tan decided not to have any children despite being married for 29 years after their firstborn died at birth.

The child died due to strangulation from the baby's umbilical cord in 1991.

The incident was a big shock to Tan and it took the couple seven years to recover from the trauma.

Since then, Chow, 60, had decided not to have any children as he did not want his wife to suffer from any complication during pregnancy.

Although they have no children, they remain a loving couple.

According to Apple Daily on Monday, the actor held a low-key celebration for his 60th birthday.

Chow and his wife had 'poon choi', the traditional Hakka big-basin dish, with friends at an eatery located in far-flung Yuen Long, reported Apple Daily.

A photo of the couple's selfie with a birthday cake was shared on Weibo by Filmko Entertainment boss, Alex Wong.

The frugal celebration won praise from netizens.
