SINGAPORE - I was to be a fly on the wall as the Roshans - Hrithik and Rakesh - met the local press, students and fans at three different locations, on Sept 21. The father and son were brought to Singapore by tabla!, Tamil Murasu and events company de ideaz for the Singapore International Deepavali Festival and for the Roshans to promote their upcoming movie, Krrish 3.
8am, Changi Airport
The star arrived on a Singapore Airlines flight and the first person to step out from their entourage was their manager. "Please, no flash," she told me but soon we were interrupted by the sound of camera shutters going off in a frenzy. Bollywood's Greek God had just appeared, looking a little worn out but still fabulous with his sunglasses, a jacket and out-of-bed sexy hairdo. Strolling behind him was Rakesh Roshan, the hero of yesteryear, smiling politely for the cameras.
As we shook hands and I introduced myself and welcomed them to Singapore, Hrithik said: "It's great to be back! I can't wait to see the place."
10am, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore
I was two hours early for the press conference so I hung around the lobby, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Roshans.
Their crew members were also at the lobby sorting out the logistics when the senior Roshan strolled in to check if everything was okay with their stay. He then looked around and asked the hotel staff where he could go for a smoke. Smiling, he told me: "It was a long flight."
