Driver jailed for Ladies' Code crash

SEOUL - The former road manager of Ladies' Code - the K-pop girl group involved in a deadly car crash on Sept 3 that killed two of its members - has been jailed for 14 months.

The trial of the former manager, who is reportedly called Park, ended on Thursday.

Park, 27, had been driving the van with the five members of Ladies' Code on the night of the incident.

The crash killed two members: EunB was instantly killed by the impact of the collision, while RiSe was left in critical condition. She died one day after EunB's funeral.

Sojung was seriously injured while Zuny and Ashley, as well as a stylist who was in the van with them, were hurt, reported Kpopstarz.

Sojung underwent surgery to correct fractures on her face. While Ashley and Zuny sustained only minor injuries, they were warded at the hospital for the shock they suffered due to the accident.

According to the judge presiding over Park's trial, the former manager had been charged for crashing the van into the road barrier on their way back to Seoul.

During early investigations, it was assumed that the van had smashed into the barrier after one of the van's rear tires got detached.

But after the police carried out more detailed inspections, it was ruled that the real cause was speeding.

Park then said that the wheel had come off the van, causing the fatal crash.

But the National Scientific, Criminal & Investigation Laboratory concluded that the wheel fell off due to the impact of the crash and that the driver was responsible for the accident.
