Fast five with Annabelle Wallis

Fast five with Annabelle Wallis
Actress Annabelle Wallis attends the screening of New Line Cinema's 'Annabelle' held at the TCL Chinese Theatre on September 29, 2014 in Hollywood, California.

The blonde English actress was often mistaken for a British aristocrat in Los Angeles. The 29-year-old told GQ: "People in LA think I'm so posh. For a long time when I attended meetings in the US, people thought I lived in Downton Abbey. I could do anything and they'd curtsy when I'd walked in the room - which I enjoyed."

Despite playing Jane Seymour in Season 3 of US TV series The Tudors, Wallis is still a relative newcomer to movies, having had only tiny parts in Body Of Lies (2008) and X-Men: First Class (2011). Playing the lead in Annabelle, opening here tomorrow, should put her on the map as it did with some other Hollywood A-listers. (See report on right.)

Wallis is gifted when it comes to faking different accents, a skill she picked up as a child. "It's easy because I grew up in Lisbon and I went to an international school. There were 42 different nationalities in my year, so I grew up using accents so that people could better understand me."

The single actress, once linked to US actor/singer Jared Leto, found her maternal instincts as she played a young mother in Annabelle. "When you have a baby on set, everybody's energy changes. You know you have a life that's far more important than yours and what's going on around you."

Earlier this year, Wallis was asked to share with readers details of what she wore every day for a month. Judging from the photos, the actress, who has just earned a leading role opposite Armie Hammer in Mine, could be a model or fashion stylist should she consider a career switch.
