IF YOU haven't got plans for Aug 23 yet, why not make a date with fusion artistes Karsh Kale and Papon?
The duo are coming to town for a concert at Singapore Conference Hall, where they will be performing along with vocal powerhouse Shilpa Rao, with music by Warren Mendonsa on guitar, Gaurav Raina of Midival Punditz on electronics and Pundit Ajay Prasanna on the flute.
With their expertise in their respective fields, the three are set to pack quite a punch.
One of the musical world's brightest stars, Karsh wears many hats: Recording artiste, producer, composer, live performer and DJ.
He has set the world of electronic fusion music on fire and has helped to create a genre of new music and a culture that continues to influence an entire generation.
His music explores the worlds of electronica, Indian classical music, rock, jazz fusion and hip hop which have led him to work with some of the most renowned artistes from around the globe including Ravi Shankar, Sting, Zakir Hussain and Lenny Kravitz.
Born in Assam, Papon was initially trained in Indian classical and traditional Assamese music, though his music is rich with ambient electronica, acoustic folk, electro ghazals, new-age and Indian classical sounds. He is a composer and producer, and one of India's most powerful new voices.
The same can be said of Shilpa, who started her musical career singing jingles before moving into film.
She is the voice behind hits like Tosey Naina Lagey from Anwar and Malang from Dhoom 3, and has sung for a variety of movies.
