A full-scale model of Godzilla's head will appear on an outdoor terrace on the eighth floor of Toho Co.'s new building in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, which is scheduled to open in April, according to the company.
The head will be installed 52 meters above street level. The 12-meter-tall head is built to scale based on the first Godzilla film, which was released in 1954. Its appearance, however, will come from the formative design seen in "Godzilla vs. Mothra" in 1992.
Toho also announced it will release a new Godzilla film in 2016, the first Japanese version since 2004. Toho plans to start filming in summer 2015.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of Godzilla's debut on the silver screen. The Hollywood remake of Godzilla released this summer has been a hit around the world.
Given its success, the company held a strategic meeting in the company, hoping to have the giant monster make a leap forward without cooling the current fever, and announced its plans at the first opportunity.
