Headey mix

Lena Headey is so great at playing the conniving Cersei Lannister in Game Of Thrones that it's hard for us to believe she's NOT Cersei Lannister.

Game Of Thrones fanboy JASON JOHNSON offers up yet more facts about Lena Headey, proving once and for all that unfortunately, she's very likely not Cersei Lannister.

For a start, the 39-year-old is appearing as two different characters who aren't Cersei this month. She stars as a demon hunter in The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones, which opened here last week. She also plays a terrorised home owner in The Purge, which opens in theatres here on Thursday.

The Purge is a high-concept horror show about a world in which all crime is legal for one night every year.

When her family offers shelter to a hunted man, they make themselves targets for a gang of creepy mask-wearing youngsters.

Of course, if it were Cersei Lannister in that house instead of a suburban housewife, those masked kids would end up with their heads on pikes.

LENA HEADEY ISN'T A LANNISTER

Born in Barbados, not Casterly Rock, Lena moved to Yorkshire, England when she was five, and remained there until she moved to London as a teenager.

Unlike Cersei's pappy Tywin, her father John is not the richest man in the world. Her brother Tim is neither a dwarf nor a morally ambiguous one-handed swordsman. She currently lives in Los Angeles and not King's Landing. It's weird!

LENA HEADEY DIDN'T MARRY A KING

Headey didn't marry a fat drunken king with an alarming beard. She married Irish musician Peter Paul Loughran in 2007. After five years of marriage, she filed for divorce in 2012.

Of course, Cersei wouldn't bother with divorce; she would simply have had poor Peter disembowelled. The pair have one child together, Wylie Elliot Loughran, who is neither a king nor a psychopath.

LENA HEADEY ISN'T A QUEEN

While Cersei Lannister is a queen, Lena Headey is an actress! She's been acting professionally since 1992, when she appeared in the film Waterland. Her filmography includes The Remains Of The Day (1993), The Brothers Grimm (2005), 300 (2006), and Dredd (2012).

Her career was given a boost in 2008, when she hit the small screen as Sarah Connor in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. She went on to play Cersei Lannister in Game Of Thrones.

LENA HEADEY ISN'T RICH

In April this year, it was reported that Lena Headey is almost bankrupt, with just $5 dollars in her bank account. Cersei, meanwhile, lives in a palace surrounded by servants.

Headey makes a reported $150,000 (S$192,000) per episode of Game Of Thrones, but she's obviously managed her money very badly. Last year, she sold her Los Angeles home at a 25 per cent loss.

LENA HEADEY ISN'T EVIL

Cercei Lannister is relatively evil. Though she knows her son is a madman, she does everything in her power to keep him on the throne.

She's in an incestuous relationship with one brother, and tried to have the other brother killed. She also helped to destroy the noble Stark family. Lena Headey has not done any of these sorts of things. Though she may look snooty and selfpossessed like Cersei, she is probably a pretty nice lady.

When asked during a recent interview when she's at her happiest, she replied: "At the end of each day, when I sit with my son and he's tired and I get to cuddle him." Actually, that sounds exactly like something Cersei Lannister would say. The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones The mystery deepens!
