Homegirl Michelle Chong appears as Ah Lian in the new 'Orange is the New Black' trailer

Michelle Chong has recently cameo-ed as Litchfield Penitentiary's newest inmate and people are loving it.

Imprisoned in the trailer for Season 5 of Orange is the New Black, the versatile actress swapped out Lulu's "Engrish" and her bombastic hair for a caricature of a typical chao Ah lian decked out in the iconic orange-jumpsuit.

If you've been keeping up with news about the streaming giant, you'll know that OITNB was hit by an anonymous hacker who leaked majority of the latest season way earlier than the intended June 9 release date.

So I was thankful that Netflix didn't shelve the series, along with a few of the other wildly popular ones like "Sense8" and "The Get Down".

Instead, they hyped up excitement for the women's prison drama with two trailers featuring Chong as an Ah lian and Uzo Aduba who plays "Crazy Eyes".

Reminiscent of the crazy personas Chong took on in the Noose, the video sees her barrage Aduba's character with typical Singlish slang like "arbu then" and "siam lah", all while the subtitles translate her words to "obviously" and "get lost".

The subtitles say "Your hair's really awesome", but what Chong actually says is "Your hair sibei champion ah".Photo: Screengrab from Netflix

Since the video was uploaded on June 6 at noon, the post has been shared a whopping 15,000 times, and garnered over 2,700 comments.

Netflix also released a new trailer yesterday, pitting the same indomitable ladies again, this time fighting over a table in the commissary.

People on the internet seem to love the idea of how Netflix is incorporating local flavour into their marketing tactics.

Some don't. But we like the reply by Netflix.

Unfortunately, Chong's cameo is only for promotional purpose and Litchfield is not welcoming a Singaporean anytime soon.

Maybe Red can make Mee Rubus for the rest of the inmates though?

One can only hope.
