The producing crew of tvN's new office drama "Misaeng" found the lips of singer-actor Im Si-wan "way too red," and had to tone them down to a darker colour with computer graphics, chief producer Kim Won-seok said Wednesday.

Im, the drama's protagonist and a member of boy band ZE:A, had been at the centre of attention due to his snow-white skin and bright red lips -- more vivid than those of all the actresses on the show.

"We had many people asking if Im's extremely red lips and 'blushing ears' were artificially brightened by computer graphics or makeup," Kim said in a press conference held in central Seoul.

"The truth is that we try to keep his lip colour darker through computer graphics," he added, driving the crowd into laughter.

Im also shared his thoughts on his own blushing ears. "After I began playing Jang Geu-rae, I somehow happened to be shier (and my ears blushed more often)," he said, joking about his "all-natural ear acting skills."

"When I get nervous, I have the instant feeling that my ears are blushing. It's not acting. It's all natural."

The Friday-Saturday drama is about Jang Geu-rae, a new face at the office who witnesses the harsh competition of "office slaves" who struggle to survive to earn their daily bread.

Since its launch on Oct. 17, the drama has won over rising popularity of all office workers, winning the title of "a drama that tugs at the office slaves' heartstrings."
