Indian police summon Bollywood actor for meeting gangster

The Mumbai Police have summoned Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal for allegedly meeting jailed gangster Arun Gawli in a state-run hospital on Dec 28 without permission.

The police said the actor, who was essaying the role of Mr Gawli for the upcoming film Daddy, met the gangster to watch him closely and observe his mannerisms.

Mr Gawli is serving a life sentence for the 2008 murder of Kamlakar Jamsandekar, a member of the Shiv Sena municipal corporation, and was in the hospital for a routine check-up. He was in judicial custody when Arjun met him.
