A group of transgenders gathered in Kodambaakam, Chennai, to protest against director S. Shankar's movie I, saying the film gives a negative impression of the community, reported Tamil Nesan.

They claimed that the movie, which was released on Jan 15, humiliated transgenders and portrayed them in a negative light, it was reported.

Those in the group included Rose Vengkatesan, a TV show anchor and a transgender, who had been initially called to give voice for a transgender character in the movie.

According to the report, the TV show anchor refused as she felt humiliated by the way the character was portrayed and had also asked for certain scenes to be removed but her pleas went unheeded.
