TAIPEI - Japanese pop idol Takuya Kimura returned to Japan yesterday afternoon after spending three days in Taiwan filming a promotional video to promote Taiwan tourism at the behest of Tourism Bureau. Kimura arrived at the EVA Sky Jet Center at Taipei Songsang Airport at 1:26 p.m. yesterday just before departing country.
He waved to around 40 waiting fans and dozens of reporters before stepping into the centre to bid farewell to Taiwan.
The 42-year-old veteran Japanese TV star waited in a VIP lounge before taking a Japan Airline jet back to Tokyo at 2:20 p.m.
Kimura spent the past three days filming a promotional film directed by award-winning director John Woo after he arrived Taiwan last Saturday. The film was shot at Taipei's Niehu Flower Market, Shih Chien University and Wulai district of New Taipei City.
It is reported that the Japanese actor also spent some time with Taiwanese super model Lin Chi-ling, a co-star who shot a Japanese TV drama with Kimura in 2010, during his Taipei tour.
This was the first time Kimura visited Taiwan. He reportedly agreed to feature in the promotion film for reduced pay to thank Taiwan for the nation's assistance in the wake of the devastating March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
