Jay Chou, Maroon 5 and Ed Sheeran are Singapore's most streamed artists in 2014

SINGAPORE - Mandopop king Jay Chou has topped local charts as the most streamed Asian artist in Singapore this year, said a statement released today by digital music service provider Spotify.

Maroon 5 takes second place while Ed Sheeran claims third place as the most streamed artists in the country.

Jay Chou again clinches the top spot while Taiwanese group Mayday and Singapore's JJ Lin take second and third spot in the Asian ranks.

In addition, Spotify's Year in Music reveals that the most played track this year on Singaporeans' playlists is 'Rude' by Magic!, closely followed by John Legend's hit 'All of Me' and OneRepublic's 'Counting Stars'.

Ms Sunita Kaur, managing director (Asia) of Spotify said: "2014 has been a fantastic year for music fans with a vibrant mix of Asian and global artists topping the end-of-year Spotify charts. Spotify's Year in Music is a great way for music fans to look back on their favourite tunes of the year and discover new tracks and playlists."

Of the 7 billion hours of music streamed in 2014 globally, Ed Sheeran holds the title of most streamed artist and most streamed album for his album 'X'. Meanwhile, 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams is the most streamed track of the year.
