UNITED STATES - Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are pulling out all the stops to ensure that baby North travels safely.
The celebrity couple, known as Kimye, have reportedly ordered two customised armoured cars for a total of US$1.5 million (S$2 million), Huffington Post reported.
Hip-hop star West, 36, will drive a Chevrolet Kodiak, while television celebrity Kardashian, 32, will have a Prombron Iron Diamond.
The Prombron Iron Diamond, which is made to military specifications, is an armoured sports utility vehicle that can withstand mines and rocket-propelled grenades.
The other vehicle is based on the limousine in which US President Barack Obama is driven around.
A source said: "Kanye is fully aware that his new family is so high-profile, they attract the attention of weirdos and psychopaths. He aims to leave nothing to chance."
The source is unaware if any kidnapping threats had already been made against the family, but said the fear was clearly in their minds.
"Everything he does is for Kim and the baby," an insider told HollywoodLife.
"So when he jets out, believe me, it's for something that's got a lot of money attached - and that money is for his family."
It has always been nothing but the best for the eye-catching couple.
They were said to have forked out more than US$1 million on six limited-edition luxury Savoir Royal State beds for their new US$11 million Bel Air mansion recently, the Daily Mail reported.
