For South Korean heart-throb Song Seung Heon, having to strip naked for his first bed scene in the upcoming R21 movie Obsessed was the most bewildering day of his acting life.
The 37-year-old model-turned-actor, who was in town yesterday to promote the movie, said: "It was an interesting experience. I felt very shy as I was naked with 30 people on set looking at me."
He added: "Before I took on this role, I always thought that if I were to do an intimate love scene, I would do it well and it would be awesome.
"But looking back now, I feel that I could have done better as I was really nervous and inexperienced then."
Obsessed, which opens in theatres here on Thursday, depicts a group of Korean soldiers during the Vietnam War.
Song plays married officer Kim Jin Pyong, who falls deeply in love with his subordinate's wife Ga Heun (Im Ji Yeon) and ends up having an affair with her.
In the film, Song and Im had to bare their bodies for the first time in several sex scenes, something which attracted a lot of attention in Korea and in the region.
Prior to this movie, the handsome star had always portrayed romantic heart-throbs in melodramatic dramas, attracting legions of female fans.
His wildly popular drama, Autumn In My Heart (2000), starring A-listers Song Hye Kyo and Won Bin, was one of the first few Korean TV shows that kickstarted the Hallyu Wave in Asia.
On taking on such a daring role this time round, Song agreed it was a huge step for him because it gave him a completely different image.
"I didn't take on this role just to try something new as an actor. It came as part of a whole package," he said.
