Kwok doing good at Sepang, has no plans to steer clear of showbiz

SEPANG - Hong Kong artiste Aaron Kwok (pic) has his eyes set on the Malaysian race track this Merdeka Day.

The avid motorsports fan and casual racer clocked in second among amateur drivers during the seventh round of the Audi R8 LMS Cup Asia Series here yesterday, and he is looking forward to better his time in the final round of the Malaysian leg of the series today.

Kwok, who is hailed as one of Cantopop's Four Heavenly Kings in the 1990s, said he was not aiming to emerge as the champion, but merely challenging himself.

"I consider this as a competition with myself. I could not devote too much time to practice due to commitments to my work in music and acting.

"But, I am very happy that I could still slip in time to do what I love to do on the track," he said at a press conference after the race.

Although he had fun on the fast lane, he said he would not trade it for his present career.

"The answer is absolutely not," he said.

"In the next 10 years, I would want to make my own movies and become a producer and director," said Kwok, who has won multiple awards in both music and acting in Hong Kong.
