Lady Gaga goes to court in lawsuit over wages

Lady Gaga is set to face her former personal assistant Jennifer O'Neill in court over an overtime claims lawsuit.

Ms O'Neill had claimed that she had to be available to the 27-year-old US pop star 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but was not paid overtime wages.

She added she was paid a flat rate of US$50,000 (S$63,000) per year when she was first hired in early 2009 and US$75,000 when she was hired again a year later.

The pair frequently slept in the same bed because Ms O'Neill never had her own hotel room while on tour and was required to address Gaga's needs throughout the night.

Ms O'Neill testified in a deposition that if Gaga was watching a DVD in the middle of the night and grew tired of it, she woke her up to replace the DVD. The trial is scheduled to begin on Nov 4.
