Laughing over Trivial Disasters

The New Indian Express gave the play a thumbs up with a review saying: "Inversive. Dark. Comic. Even as the director and cast describe their play, Trivial Disasters, they can't suppress their chuckles because that's how funny it is."

Now, the troupe made up of Bollywood's favourite diva - Kalki Koechlin of DevD, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani fame - along with the hilarious Cyrus Sahukar and Purab Kohli are all set to give the Singapore audience an unforgettable experience on Sept 26.

Written by Ajay Krishnan and directed by Atul Kumar, Trivial Disasters is a series of comic vignettes.

The 90-minute play in English portrays a humorous, cheeky and twisted take on the grave realities of life today.

Produced and promoted by Out of The Box Creationz, the play turns momentous occasions, important relationships and issues on their heads to reveal their ridiculous and rib-tickling sides.

It presents a hilariously bizarre world where marriages come with exchange offers, kidnappers haggle over ransom like groceries, serial killers are TV stars and poet laureates compose a municipal signage.

Trivial Disasters has performed over 30 shows at auditoriums as well as alternative spaces and has received rave reviews from audiences as well as critics.

Trivial Disasters will be staged at the Shine Auditorium on Sept 26. Tickets start at $70 and can be booked through SISTIC.
