Local act to open for Taylor Swift in Singapore

SINGAPORE - Local band Imprompt-3 emerged as the winner of a competition to perform for a 12,000-strong crowd as the opening act for singer/songwriter Taylor Swift's concert here.

Co-organised by Cornetto and SONY Music, the nationwide competition saw over 152 video entries from aspiring local musicians.

Imprompt-3 was eventually chosen from five finalists through public voting and a panel of judges.

Singapore Idol 2009 winner Sezairi, who performed for Swift at her last concert in Singapore in 2011, will be mentoring Imprompt-3 in the coming months before Swift's The RED Tour.

"It has been a whirlwind couple of months for Imprompt-3. To play in front of a sold out crowd at the indoor stadium is an entirely new high for us and we will work hard to be the best local opening act there has ever been. Most of all, we are beyond excited to meet the gorgeous and talented Ms. Swift," said Imprompt-3.

While tickets to see Swift perform have already sold out, fans can still take part in ongoing contests and promotions by Cornetto to win tickets to the concert. These currently include Cornetto lid codes redemption and a #SingForSwift instagram video contest.

By entering the codes found on the lids of Cornetto ice cream cones, fans are also automatically included in a Grand Draw to be held on June 1, where the winner will walk away with the grand prize of a pair of concert tickets with meet-and-greet passes to get up close and personal with Swift.
