Local actor Ashmi Roslan dies at age 34

SINGAPORE - Popular local actor Ashmi Roslan has died at the age of 34, MediaCorp's Suria channel announced on Thursday.

According to Channel NewsAsia, Ashmi is believed to have suffered a heart attack.

In a condolence message posted on Facebook, MediaCorp Suria said that the actor gained fame after taking part in Anugerah Skrin, an acting and hosting competition, in 2006.

Last weekend, Ashmi had posted a photo of a fruit basket on his Instagram account and hinted that he was not well and had been hospitalised.

"Unexpected turning point but I am thankful that He has given me a reminder to take better care of myself. Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I really appreciate it," he had said.

The actor is believed to have been dating local actress Syirah Jusni, who took to Instagram to express her grief.

Syirah said in a message posted with a photo of Ashmi: "I will be strong, just for you. I will bring myself up, just for you."

"You will always be in my heart, mind and prayers. Thank you for loving me. As much as I have always loved you, and I will always do."
