Local hip hop group wins F&N's Singapore Dance Delight 5

SINGAPORE - Hailed as Singapore's largest dance competition, F&N's Singapore Dance Delight 5 crowned a local hip hop group as the champions of the night.

Flair Origins will go on to represent ASEAN in the Japan Dance Delight Vol. 21 competition in Osaka on Aug 31, 2014. They win a 4D3N sponsored trip by F&N Sparkling Drinks, X-Mini UNO speakers, Cathay Cineleisure movie tickets, Lenovo Yoga tablets and O School $1,000 cash.

Flair Origins is a sub-crew of Flair Brothers, a 10-member group of hip hop dancers aged from 21 to 32 years old. An advocate of hip hop movement, Flair Brothers have hosted and participated in various local and international hip-hop dance competitions. The five "originators" of Flair Brothers teamed up to showcase their hip-hop speciality in Singapore Dance Delight, giving rise to the name of Flair Origins.

First runner-up is Four Thirteen, a duo from Indonesia. They may also represent ASEAN in the Japan finals but their trip has to be on their own. Their slick, what-looked-like effortless moves won them an X-Mini UNO speaker, Cathay Cineleisure movie tickets and O School $800 cash. They were also previously first runner-up at the Indonesia Dance Delight Vol.2.

Second runner-up went to Freekzy Bots from Singapore. Their dance moves earned them an X-Mini UNO speaker, Cathay Cineleisure movie tickets and O School $500 cash. They had previously won second runner-up at Singapore Dance Delight Vol.4.

22 dance groups took part in this year's Singapore Dance Delight final night held at Kallang Theatre on May 10, 2014. 15 of those teams hailed from Singapore who earned their spot in the finals after emerging victorious from a gruelling battle of 45 teams during the preliminaries held on Apr 26, 2014. All choreography, costumes and music mixes were created by each team on their own.

It was a full-house of screaming fans and supporters of the teams who had to perform a five-minute routine for a panel of well-known street-dancing judges. They were resident judge, Ryan Tan, O School Creative Director, Shaun Evaristo, famed choreographer who has collaborated with stars like Justin Bieber and Big Bang, Henry Link, one of the most well-respected names in hip hop dance, Acky, whose crew won three instalments of Japan Dance Delight and Dominique, Japan's top hip hop dancer.

The electrifying atmosphere in Kallang Theatre was encouraged by host, Sheikh Heikel, with opportunities for the audience to take photos and hashtag them on social media sites that was showcased on a large screen in the theatre.

2014 marks the fifth year of Singapore Dance Delight. Presented by F&N Sparkling Drinks and produced by O School, F&N Sparkling Drinks is synonymous with vibrancy, cheeriness and spiritedness. The brand is proud to have a hand in injecting vibrancy in the local dance scene and spread the groove among youths.
