Madonna's first-ever concert in Singapore set for Feb 28, rated R18

SINGAPORE - Local concert coordinator Mediacorp VizPro has confirmed that Madonna will be bringing her Rebel Heart Tour 2016 to Singapore for one night only, on Feb 28.

Tickets will go on sale at 10am on Jan 12, but Lifetime Legacy members from Madonna's official fan club, Icon, will be able to buy their tickets from 10am on Thursday, Jan 7, to 5pm on Friday, Jan 8.

Tickets reportedly cost from $108 to $688, while VIP tickets will be sold at $1,288 each.

In a press release on Wednesday, Mediacorp VizPro said the concert has been rated R18 and only those aged 18 and older will be allowed entry to the concert venue at the National Stadium.

According to The Straits Times on Tuesday, Mediacorp VizPro had confirmed in a Facebook post that the American star's tour will make a stop here, but a date was not set.

The police confirmed that a licence has been issued for the concert.

Previously, the Singapore date was listed as Feb 28 on the singer's official website before it was taken down.

The 57-year-old American singer was banned from performing her controversial Girlie Show World Tour here in 1993, when police said her performances in the tour show "border on the obscene... (and are) known to be objectionable to many on moral and religious grounds".

If confirmed, Singapore is one of several stops as part of the tour's Asian leg, which includes Japan, Hong Kong, Taipei, Macau, Bangkok and Manila. Both dates in Hong Kong are sold out.

Tickets will be sold online at Sportshubtix.sg, through the SportsHub hotline at 3158-7888, and at the National Stadium box office and all SingPost Outlets.
