MH370: Stars around the world offer condolences via social media

PETALING JAYA - Celebrities around the world took to social media to share their sorrow with the loved ones of the 239 passengers and crew members on the ill-fated Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

K-pop star Huangzi Tao, a member of Chinese-South Korean boy band Exo-M, changed the profile picture on his official Weibo account to a pitch-black square and updated his status to read "silence".

On Twitter, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan chimed in with his condolences: "The saddest and most intriguing tragedy of MH370 .. why and how did it end up where it did ..? My prayers for those that suffer!!"

Songwriter La Toya Jackson called the news heartbreaking, devastating and disturbing,

She tweeted: "My Heart Goes Out To The Love Ones Of Flight #MH370. Our Prayers Will Continue To B With U."

Oscar-winning actress Patty Duke used the micro-blogging site to express her grief: "Our hearts go out to all the souls on flight MH370 and their families. So very sad. Our hearts ache!!"

It was "soul crushing" for American actress Sophia Bush, who posted on her official Instagram account: "My heart goes out to the family and friends of everyone lost. It's just tragic. RIP."

Popular local actress Nur Fazura Sharifuddin sent love and prayers to all affected parties during this difficult time: "I am grateful for all the people around the world who helped with the search, it was inspiring to see the world come together for our aid. Al Fatihah."

For local singer-songwriter Yuna Zarai, there was a sudden emptiness and profound sadness upon hearing the Prime Minister's announcement on the fate of MH370.

"My deepest condolences to the families, my prayers and thoughts are with you.

"May you find strength and courage to go through this difficult time," she said on her official Facebook page.

The Los Angeles-based artiste thanked those who risked their lives in the search and rescue mission for their dedication and selflessness.
