Model Bundchen earns $58 million in last 12 months

Brazil's football team may have flopped at the World Cup, but one of its most famous citizens still made it to the final - and continues to laugh all the way to the bank.

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen, who was a guest of honour at the World Cup final between Germany and Argentina, pocketed US$47 million (S$58 million) in the last 12 months, according to Forbes' 2014 Celebrity 100 list.

The world's top-earning model for the last seven years is the only Brazilian who made the business magazine's rich list last month, reported the Daily Mail. She has appeared in its ranking for 14 consecutive years.

Lucrative contracts with H&M, Chanel, Carolina Herrera and Louis Vuitton made Bundchen's last 12 months "the best in her two-decade career".

The 33-year-old mother of two has since got two new contracts with Emilio Pucci and Balenciaga. She will also star in a commercial for Chanel No. 5.

Forbes estimated that her total earnings since it began tracking her numbers in 2001 totalled US$386 million. Factoring in inflation based on the buying power of the dollar over time, the amount goes up to US$427 million.

The figure does not include management, agent and attorney fees.

NET WORTH

The business magazine also said her net worth is almost twice as much as former Brazil and Barcelona football star Ronaldo's.

Bundchen has previously denied earning as much as Forbes has claimed, reported the Daily Telegraph.

Earlier this year, she was quoted by MdeMulher, Brazil's biggest female-oriented portal, as saying: "It's sad, because the people who write these things don't have my bank account details.

"I do okay, I earn plenty, but not as much as they say. I've already been audited by the IRS because of this list and, truthfully, whether I'm on this list or not doesn't interest me."

Louis Vuitton said it chose Bundchen to take part in the World Cup final ceremony as she was "a natural choice for the brand and Fifa, for epitomising the Brazilian woman and spreading her country's colours all over the world".
