What a dopey movie.
Kevin Costner stars as Sonny Weaver Jr, an American football manager who is under incredible pressure to make the right call on draft day.
He has got to choose between three different athletes - a hotshot quarterback (Josh Pence) and a couple of other guys who are not as glamorous.
As Sonny digs into the lives of the players, he discovers that the quarterback might have actually been a closet wimp.
I really cannot stand the whole self-serious vibe of this sports drama. It is so reverential toward its subject matter that it borders on ridiculous.
This is American football we are talking about. Very large men banging into each other. Get a grip.
Draft Day desperately needs some humour and/or perspective. - Jason Johnson
