SINGAPORE- There is nothing fresh about this action thriller which banks on visual spectacle.
Plot-wise, it is the usual cop-and-robbers dance that climaxes in a fiery finale.
Steel yourself for violence in the form of massive explosions, shoot-outs and cold-blooded murder with the themes of right and wrong being fleshed out at every turn.
But do watch Firestorm for leading man Andy Lau, who's still got it at 52.
He plays a cop who goes to the ends of the earth to bring a gang of crooks to justice.
The veteran Hong Kong star charms as the torn protagonist, one who lives his life strictly by the rules till the day he realises that playing dirty will serve as the means to his end.
While this movie hits all the right notes like others in its genre, I just wish there was a twist somewhere.
