Movie pick: As the light goes out (PG13)

SINGAPORE- Boasting a stellar cast of Hong Kong actors Nicholas Tse, Shawn Yue and Simon Yam, As The Light Goes Out is a thriller that will keep you at the edge of your seat.

Tse plays Sam, a firefighter spending his last day at the fire station on Christmas Eve before he gets transferred. A huge fire breaks out at a power plant, causing the entire country to experience a nationwide blackout.

Sam, together with his hot-headed colleague Chill (Yue), veteran firefighter Tao (Yam) and their team risk their lives to put out the fire.

Tse and Yue show off their brilliant acting skills and convey their high-strung emotions convincingly, especially in the last scene where they combine forces to save lives in the fire.

The emotional and dramatic plot, together with an impressive display of explosive pyrotechnics, gives the movie its spark.
