Chances are, even if you’re a fan of the fantasy adventure genre, you’d find Seventh Son cumbersome and cluttered.
Helmed by Russian director Sergei Bodrov — this is his first English-language film — it tells the tale of Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges), the sole remaining warrior of a mystical order which is searching hard for a prophesised young hero born with incredible powers (Ben Barnes).
The duo embark on a journey to vanquish a sinister queen (Julianne Moore) and her army of supernatural assassins.
While I have no complaints about the visual feast and action spectacle, Seventh Son’s storyline is severely cliched, made worse by underdeveloped characters whom we feel nothing for.
What a waste of good acting talent.
