Movie review: KL gangster 2

****

KL Gangster was a 2011 blockbuster success that raked in RM12 million (S$4.7 million) at the Malaysian box office.

Does the prequel have the potential to repeat the feat?

I will be very surprised if it fails to.

Popular action heroes Aaron Aziz and Adi Putra star once again as brothers Malek and Jai.

This time round, we learn how they were introduced into the gangster world following their father's death, as well as the events leading to Malek's imprisonment.

Both Aaron and Adi take on extended fight sequences in this movie. Their excellent execution is definitely this film's winning point.

Rosyam Nor, as the devious antagonist Tailong, also adds strength to an already powerful cast. Director Syamsul Yusof also appears in the movie as fellow gangster Shark.

While it is intense and action-packed from start to finish, the film also wins in its emotional aspect as it follows through with the tension between the warring brothers and strained family ties.
