MP Baey Yam Keng to star in local play

SINGAPORE - Member of Parliament Baey Yam Keng will star in a local play "Like Me. I Like" in Dec this year. 

Mr Baey, who is also the producer of the play, will play the leading role of a romantic blogger. 

The play, to be performed in Mandarin, depicts the real life obsession of social media and its impact on the day-to-day interaction among people within society.

Baey Yam Keng's wife Lim Hai Yen, whom he met through theatre during his Hwa Chong Junior College (华中初级学院) days, is the playwright and artistic director of the play.

Joining him are showbiz veteran DJ and host, Foong Wai See, Y.E.S. 93.3FM DJ, Chung Kun Hua, as well as veteran DJ and host, Foong Wai See, who returned to stage play after a lapse of 20 years.

Cultural medallion award winner Dick Lee is the production's image stylist who will be in charge of the wardrobe for the cast that will be designed by local talents.

Set in advertising firm 'A Different ADvertising', he play spins a heartwarming story revolving around social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Blog, WhatsApp and how courage, love, 'bromance', friendships, secrets, desires and rivalries flourish at work. All these are witnessed by the firm's pet hamster who lives, breathes and plays among its human masters' complicated and comical relationships happening both online and offline.

The play will be staged from Dec 4-7 and will be priced from $35-$38.

All proceeds will go to Tampines North CCC Community Development & Welfare Fund (淡滨尼北公民咨询委员会社区发展及福利基金) and Hwa Chong Junior College Alumni Students Bursary Fund (华中初级学院校友会助学金).
