1. NEW TEEN HEART-THROB

This 23-year-old has landed the lead role as Chloe Grace Moretz's boyfriend in If I Stay, now showing in cinemas. Blackley plays Adam, who tries to coax girlfriend Mia (Moretz) out of coma.

2. TURNING HEADS

In the movie, Adam is introduced walking down a school hallway in a leather jacket with a guitar on his back, as girls drool and swoon. In real life, Blackley said he never had such attention. Blackley told The Canadian Press: "That wasn't me in high school. I had terrible hair in high school."

3. HE'S NOT A ROCK STAR

Blackley had his showbiz start with rock musical Spring Awakenings, followed by a role as George Harrison in a production of Backbeat. He learnt to play the guitar at 12, but he said he only looked the part of a rock band frontman. "It's probably just because I wear tight jeans," he told Clash Music.

4. CHEMISTRY TIME

Working with Moretz was an unusual experience, as Blackley was star-struck when he first met the actress. But they found chemistry from the get-go. He told Metro: "We just got on with it and had fun."

5. MOVING UP

Next for Blackley is a Woody Allen project, where he will share screen time with Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix.

While he could not reveal much about the currently untitled project, Blackley is thrilled to be working with the "amazing" director. "I'd turn up at work and be like, 'Wow, where am I?'" he told Global News.
