LADY GAGA - DO WHAT U WANT (FEAT. R KELLY)

Gaga goes majorly retro on her new single, which features synths and a pounding beat and a guest appearance by US R&B singer R Kelly in the second verse. Gaga herself is flawlessly fierce in this "sticks and stones won't hurt my bones" track. No surprises why it went straight to number one on iTunes when it was released on Monday.

KATY PERRY - UNCONDITIONALLY

Fresh from the success of empowerment anthem Roar, the US pop star is back in lovelorn territory with her new single from just-released album Prism. Fun fact: The song was inspired by her current squeeze John Mayer and... Africa. "It's just a simple message about loving someone and accepting them..." she told Entertainment Weekly.

TAYLOR SWIFT - SWEETER THAN FICTION

America's country-pop princess goes back in time to both her Love Story days and the 80s for this sugary little song, which will be on the soundtrack for One Chance, a movie adaptation of Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts. The new wave sound can be attributed to co-writer and Fun guitarist Jack Antonoff.
