The 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards was held in Glasgow, Scotland on Nov 9, hosted by larger-than-life rapper-singer Nicki Minaj.
But Minaj's hosting abilities have received decidedly mixed reviews.
According to the UK's Daily Mail, Minaj opened the show with an expletive within her first five words, which set the tone for an expletive-ridden ceremony, even though she was a hit with fans.
The American hitmaker also made a staggering total of 10 outfit changes throughout the show, many of which showed off her ample chest and curvy figure.
Minaj's hosting included nods to Scottish culture with a rap about whisky, shortbread and kilts, while a quip about learning that a "Glasgow kiss" referred to a headbutt sounded like a badly-delivered and poorly-scripted joke, The New Paper reported.
Other strange antics during the ceremony included a selfie with a "dinosaur" and playing mini-golf on-stage in a skin-tight sports dress.
The New Paper gave the 'Anaconda' singer's hosting an A grade - for "Absolutely Awkward".
But some websites and publications have praised Minaj for her energy and entertaining quips.
At the awards, British boy band One Direction took home three awards: Best pop, best live act and best band - the most on the night.
Singer Ariana Grande scooped two awards for best female artist and best song, and also opened the show with a thumping performance and dressed in a futuristic silver leotard.
