One Direction fever to hit S'pore in 2015

Boy band sensation One Direction are set to play their highly anticipated first gig in Singapore at the new National Stadium on March 11.

One of the biggest pop groups in the world, the English-Irish quintet comprising Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have earned an ardent global fan following and an impressive 61 No.1 hit songs in the last three years.

Put together by music mogul Simon Cowell, the group first came to fame when they ended up third in the 2010 season of British reality television singing competition, The X Factor, in 2010. Besides selling 36 million copies of albums, singles and DVDs, the group has picked up multiple music awards, including at the Billboard Music Awards, Brit Awards and MTV Awards.

Tickets ranging from $88 to $388 will go on sale from June 11 through Sports Hub Tix (www.sportshubtix.sg or call 6333-5000), at the Indoor Stadium Sports Hub box office, and at all SingPost outlets.
