Oscars to broadcast on HBO Asia

SINGAPORE - HBO Asia has acquired the rights to broadcast the Academy Awards in Asia, which are also known as the Oscars.

This makes HBO Asia the only regional network for the ceremony.

The oldest entertainment awards ceremony, the 87th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on Feb 22 next year.

The ceremony will be hosted by actor Neil Patrick Harris, famous for his role as Barney Stinson in hit television series How I Met Your Mother.

Said HBO Asia CEO Jonathan Spink: "With HBO as the new home of the Oscars in Asia, Hollywood's most watched and anticipated television event is now available live to subscribers as a complete Oscars experience,

"And for the first time in the history of the Academy Awards, viewers can watch winners backstage ina live feed, shown to Asian viewers on HBO."
