Philippine shadow play group wins Asia's Got Talent

SINGAPORE - Philippine act El Gamma Penumbra has been named the inaugural winner of Asia's Got Talent, a talent competition series on AXN.

The 12-person team performs shadow plays and beat fellow finalist Mongolian throat singing band Khusugtun to become winner of the series on Thursday evening.

Their prize includes US$100,000 and the opportunity to perform at Marina Bay Sands. In addition, US$10,000 worth of Jetstar flights were shared between the top two acts.

"We've been dreaming of this for a long time. Now that we've reached our dream it's time for us to pay it back by giving wonderful and inspiring performances." performer Marvin Mendoza Marfa of El Gamma Penumbra said.

Their winning Grand Final shadow play to the song Colors of the Wind was a tribute to Mother Earth that conveyed the importance of conservation.

The performance brought judge Anggun to tears, while David Foster called it "beautifully profound".

Viewers' votes were cast over four days via SMS, Facebook and the Asia's Got Talent mobile app.
