Running into mayhem

Running into mayhem
It was mayhem at Jurong Point with a massive 4,000-strong crowd turnout for the Running Man autograph session.

"I'm covered in fangirl sweat, I think I'm going to faint."

Remarks like this were common as a massive crowd of 4,000 jostled at Jurong Point mall on Saturday to catch the Running Man autograph session held just outside Boon Lay MRT station.

And some dehydrated fans of the Korean show did faint, unable to withstand being packed like sardines for two hours.

The paramedics were called and one fan who passed out completely was wheeled away on a stretcher.

Others were taken to a rest area and were given water to combat heat exhaustion. One of them was 17-year-old student Nicki Loh. She told The New Paper: "Today is really, really crazy. I have been to so many K-pop events and this one has the biggest crowd by far.

"We can't even see the stage outside because the crowd stretches all the way to the interior of the mall.

"This shows why Running Man is the No. 1 (variety) show in Korea, we will do anything for them.

"I will faint all over again if you ask me to!"

Bartender Landy Yee, 20, said: "Do you know I took one hour to squeeze my way... to the front of the crowd?"
