Sammi Cheng, Andy Hui married

HONG KOMG - Cantopop couple Sammi Cheng and Andy Hui have quietly tied the knot in Bali, after a 22-year entanglement, said Apple Daily.

Cheng, 41, and Hui, 46, invited only family to the ceremony on Nov 30, and will throw a wedding party next year, reported the newspaper.

Apple Daily, which has a history of breaking news on celebrity weddings (for Andy Lau and Leon Lai, among others), said Cheng did not deny the story on Monday.

Dropped off by Hui at her apartment at Harbour Heights in Repulse Bay, she laughed when a reporter asked her about her wedding.

She laughed again and said nothing, when the reporter asked: "Christians can't lie. So did you secretly marry last month?"

Finally, she waved goodbye at the reporter and said: "You've taken enough photos. You've taken so many. Quick, go back."

The couple first got together in 1991 after recording a duet, Actually, I'm Not In Your Heart, according to Apple Daily.

They kept their romance low-key and Hui did not talk about their relationship till 2001, after he won a top prize at the Jade Solid Gold Awards and made his famous "kitchen declaration", thanking a woman who had been in his kitchen and made a pact with him to win top prizes together.

After he announced their split in 2004, her weight dropped dramatically.

In 2007, he began dating other women: his assistant Poon Hang Cheung and model Michelle Yu.

But in a fans' dream come true, Cheng and Hui got back together in 2011. After they resumed their relationship, he proposed at least six times but she did not accept, said the report.

She agreed to marry him only after she had to move in with him in August because her home at the time had been demolished.

Only their families and her manager were present at their wedding, said Apple Daily.

The newspaper said the story of the marriage leaked after her overjoyed sister shared the good news with her colleagues at her insurance company.

On Monday, her manager said: "It is true that the two of them were on holiday in Bali on Nov 30. But there is nothing to announce for the time being."

After the wedding, Cheng moved into her new home, but the couple plan to live together after they announce their marriage, said Apple Daily.
