A Singaporean has been picked to be the voice behind Microsoft's original new anime mascot for Internet Explorer.
Anisong (anime song) singer, 22-year-old Valerie Tang (left), is the voice of Inori Aizawa.
She will also make a special cosplay appearance as Inori during Microsoft's marketing campaign launch at the Anime Festival Asia (AFA) 2013 next Saturday.
She told The New Paper yesterday: "I have been doing voice practice weekly to prepare for my role of Inori and I look forward to taking on this role."
More details will be released at the campaign launch.
Tang, who was part of the J-pop girl group Sea*A, which was formed two years ago, became a solo artist after the quartet disbanded in July.
She said: "Going solo forces me to focus as I have no one else to depend on, unlike in the past. But I also learn things faster and my Japanese improved a lot."
Sea*A, which was made up of Singaporeans Estelle Lim, 20, Beryl Teo, 22, and Tang, and Malaysian Wynnie Teoh, 22, disbanded when the other three members left to pursue their studies.
Tang, who had deferred her studies at Temasek Polytechnic's School of Design, is the only one who wants to remain in showbiz.
"If I were to go back to school, I might take a course that's more general, such as business," she said.
